Can I only charge my MG with an MG EV charger?
MG provides EV chargers for their electric vehicles, but this doesn’t mean you’re limited to using MG-branded chargers for your MG vehicle. The MG ZS and MG4 have CCS Type 2 charger ports, which are compatible with all home EV chargers on the market. Depending on your charging needs and preferences, you can choose from a range of available chargers, including solar-integrated and smart chargers.
How long does it take to charge an MG at home?
Charging times vary depending on the EV model and the charging method.
The MG ZS variants have an 11kW three-phase on-board charger that takes 5 hours to fully charge the standard variants and 8 hours for the long-range variant.
All MG4 variants are served by a Plug Type 2 CCS charger, which fully charges in a minimum of 7.5 hours using a 7kW charger, and a minimum of 40 mins to charge 10-80% using a 50kW charger depending on the variant.
Can I integrate solar panels to charge my MG at home?
Yes, you can integrate solar panels to charge your MG at home, which provides several benefits, such as using renewable energy and reducing grid power usage, which in turn lowers electricity bills. Certain charger models offer smart solar charging functionality, seamlessly integrating the charger with your home solar setup. Additionally, by combining solar panels with a home battery storage system, you can store excess solar energy generated during the day and use it to charge your MG at night or during low sunlight periods.
