Puzzle fiends and kidults alike can fall well and truly down the rabbit hole at Sydney’s Hijinx Hotel. Inspired by The Grand Budapest Hotel and Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, this outrageously designed entertainment space takes challenge rooms to a near-cinematic level.

The brainchild of Funlab – Australia’s foremost purveyors of weird and wacky experiences – Hijinx Hotel is the place to be for a fantastical and fun day out with friends or family. Together, you can flex your mental and physical problem-solving skills, having a barrel of laughs along the way.

What can I expect at Hijinx Hotel?

Giving challenge rooms a trendy hipster makeover, the Hijinx Hotel looks incredible. With a mock hotel reception, the vast space resembles a David Lynch film set on acid.

Although you won’t find a luxurious hotel suite to stay in, there are three sets with five challenge rooms each to try your wits at. From the Cereal Ball Room to the Titanic Room, every one offers a uniquely immersive yet ultimately puzzling experience.

When conquering the themed rooms’ baffling challenges, teams of two to six must score as many points as possible in just four minutes. Many of which take their cues from classic kids’ games like Rubik’s Cubes, Twister and Scrabble.

What else is in store at Hijinx Hotel?

It wouldn’t be a decadently entertaining day out without a drink in one of Hjinx Hotel’s three funky themed bars. Brace yourself with a pre-challenge cocktail and celebrate your victory with a toast afterwards.

What can I do nearby Hijinx Hotel?

Hijinx Hotel just so happens to be in Alexandria’s Sydney Corporate Park precinct, which is home to some of the Funlab family’s other imaginative entertainment destinations – all equally Instagrammable.

Putting a cool spin on fairground fun, Archie Brothers Cirque Electrique is a circus-like cocktail bar oozing retro nostalgia. Feel like a kid again playing vintage arcade games, go bowling in the coolest lanes you’ll ever see and zap your friends at laser tag.

Want to pitch your luck at mini golf? Head to the not-so-mini, 27-hole Holey Moley Golf Club. With holes inspired by shark-infested waters, Vincent Van Gogh and The Simpsons, this epic golfing arena isn’t your average pitch and putt, but the very definition of crazy golf.
