Try Your Hand at Distilling at North of Eden Gin School

Citrussy, herbaceous or floral, what’s your tipple of choice? Gin can be infused with all manner of botanicals that lend it delightfully unique flavour profiles, but do you know how it is made?

For a first-hand experience at crafting gin, North of Eden’s Gin School offers masterclasses in making it. You may not come out a master distiller, but you’ll get a taste of the alchemy and magic that goes into making gin and come away with your very own bottle, too.

A distillery in the heart of nature

Located in beautiful rolling hills, close to the Sapphire Coast, Stony Creek Farm Distillery is the home of multi award-winning North of Eden Gin. Since turning an old cow shed into a micro-distillery in 2018, founders Gavin and Karen have never looked back.

Now their operation boasts a cellar door and a gin school, making it a wonderful destination for visitors to embark on their very own gin-tastic journey.

What can I experience at North of Eden’s Gin School?

Perfect for groups of friends or alchemy explorers, North of Eden’s Gin School teaches you all the basics – and more – of distilling gin. Set in a charmingly decorated classroom adorned with copper stills and houseplants galore, your three-hour experience will introduce you to the art of distilling.

After a lesson in how to harmonise botanicals and balance flavours, you’ll get acquainted with their tempting pantry of roots, leaves, flowers, and seeds. These will be the ingredients with which you will concoct the gin of your wildest dreams. Then, watch and wait as your chosen aromatics get to work in the stills before getting to name and sip your very own bespoke gin creation.

Can I sample more of North of Eden’s gins?

Yes. What better way to unwind in the glorious countryside surroundings than with a refreshing gin taster? At the Cellar Door you’ll find out how North of Eden craft their award-winning signature gins – the Classic and the Connoisseur – and how they’re best served.

Come for the tasters; stay for the cocktails. With a fully fleshed out menu of everything from dry martinis to negronis, North of Eden is literally a gin paradise to behold. You can buy a bottle to take home. Visitors are even invited to bring their own picnics so you can sprawl out on the grass and relax in nature, drink in hand.
