It’s not just France and Italy that are responsible for the world’s most exquisite truffles, they can be found locally in Canberra too. Rich and intoxicating with an unmistakable aroma, this rarefied delicacy is a chef’s most precious ingredient.

Just a 20-minute drive from Canberra city centre, in the foothills of Mount Majura, the Truffle Farm is the ACT’s ultimate truffle destination. Here, you can hunt for your own truffles before enjoying the fruits of your labours in a heavenly brunch or lunch. And if the hunting alone isn’t enough fun, you’ll spend the day in the company of the farm’s army of delightful truffle hunting doggies, too.

What can I experience at The Truffle Farm?

The Truffle Farm’s interactive truffle hunt experiences are the perfect day out in the bucolic Canberran countryside. Inhale the fresh air and join lead hunter Jayson on an expedition around the farm while their dogs sniff out truffles through the forest of 6,000 oak and hazelnut trees.

Once you’ve found your prized truffle, you’ll return to the farm – and depending on what time of day you visit – you’ll enjoy a delicious six-course degustation brunch or lunch, expertly prepared by their resident head chef.

Along the way you’ll learn how the truffles are handled and harvested before they make their way to the market and end up on the plates of Australia’s top restaurants.

Can I buy truffles to take home?

Yes, after your truffle hunting experience, you will be able to purchase fresh truffles and truffle products from the farm. Your post-hunt degustation will include truffle infused dishes featuring cheese, honey, crème brûlée, soup or seafood.

What else is there to see and do around Majura?

To continue your gastronomic adventures around Majura, pay a visit to Mount Majura Vineyard. This esteemed winery is responsible for producing world-class Tempranillo which you can taste and buy at its cellar door.

Head out on a hike along one of the Mount Majura Nature Reserve’s many trails. Leading you through open forests and attractive woodlands, the trails offer scenery in abundance. If you have the stamina, climb Mount Majura itself. At the Majura Pines Recreation Area, you’ll find horse and mountain biking trails (some of the oldest and best in Canberra) along with orienteering routes.
