It’s no surprise Canowindra is Australia’s hot air ballooning capital. Gorgeous colonial architecture, never-ending vineyards and remarkable landscapes all align to create the perfect backdrop for silent and scenic balloon rides.

Here’s how to experience this most magical of adventures with operator Balloon Joy Flights, as dawn appears and the warm sun spills over NSW.

What can I expect on a sunrise hot air balloon ride over Canowindra?

Lasting around an hour in the air, Balloon Joy Flights’ Sunrise Flights start at the historic Montrose House hotel. Before day breaks, you’ll be escorted from there to the launch site to watch your balloon gradually inflate.

As you ascend over the beautiful Belubula Valley, you’ll gaze down upon its rolling green fields, farmsteads, vineyards and winding river. While you drift, your pilot will provide insightful commentary about what lies below.

Once back on solid ground, you’ll get a souvenir flight certificate and sumptuous champagne breakfast back at Montrose House to toast your experience.

I want to propose, can I book a private hot air balloon ride?

Whether you’re planning to pop the question or surprise a loved one with an unforgettable experience, Balloon Joy Flights offer private two-person hot air balloon rides. Just like the Sunrise Flights experience, except exclusive for two, this exceedingly romantic airborne expedition will be sure to captivate the object of your affections and create memories to last a lifetime.

Witness hundreds of hot air balloons at the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge
