There are Alpine adventures galore for the whole family less than an hour from Canberra. Nestled in the Tidbinbilla Mountain Range, Corin Forest is a ski resort where it always snows in winter thanks to ‘Yeti’, its snow-making gun. Wrap up warm and get ready to hit the slopes in style.

What can experience at Corin Forest?

Sitting at an altitude of 1,200m Corin Forest is cold. While it doesn’t always snow naturally, Corin Forest benefits from the perfect temperatures to allow man-made snow to settle nicely. Throughout winter, the resort’s army of snow guns creates a magnificent ski slope and snowfield where you’ll feel like you’re in the Swiss Alps.

Beginners, proficient skiers, and snowboarders can ride the ‘magic carpet’ ski lift to take to the slopes. Private and group lessons for ages four and up are available at the Snow Sports School, as is all kit hire.

For general snow tomfoolery, the Snowplay area is the perfect spot to have a snow fight, slip-slide on a toboggan or have a snowman-building competition.

What else is there to see and do at Corin Forest?

Whether you want to plan your own picnic or warm up with a pizza, Corin Forest has multiple ways you can dine. Cosy up around the Café’s open fireplace, tuck into a freshly prepared wood-fired pizza or gather around a BBQ at the spacious picnic area.

Open all year round, the epic 1.2km Alpine Slide twists and turns through the picturesque mountain ash forest. See how many sliding sessions you can squeeze into your one-house pass.

Despite its ‘resort’ status, there’s no accommodation at Corin Forest, so if you plan to make a weekend of it, the nearest campsite is Woods Reserve Campground, 6km away.

What else can I see and do around Tidbinbilla?

Immerse yourself in the wonder of Canberra’s backyard at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. With nature connection opportunities aplenty, you can witness the magnificent Gibraltar Falls (just off Corin Road), cycle the challenging Corin Dam Road hill-climb and hike the Square Rock trail for spectacular views.

On your way back to Canberra, go intergalactic at Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, a satellite communication station that’s part of NASA’s Deep Space Network. Here you’ll find out what astronauts eat and what role Australia plays in outer space exploration.
