How do I get to Pebbly Beach?

Located in Murramarang National Park, Pebbly Beach can be reached from Canberra by heading east along the Kings Highway. At Bateman’s Bay pick up Princes Highway, through Benandarah before turning right onto Mount Agony Road.

Follow Mount Agony Road all the way to Pebbly Beach Access Road, at the end of which you’ll arrive at Pebbly Beach Campground where you can park up at. The beach itself is a short four-minute stroll away.

What can I see and do at Pebbly Beach?

From its gently rolling waves to its curve of golden sand and forest backdrop, Pebbly Beach is super-scenic. Fragrant coastal rosemary and lomandra grow on the exposed headlands, while dolphins dive in the distance.

Drawn to its surrounding grassy areas, kangaroos like to graze and even occasionally take a dip in the water on a hot day. Pack your surfboard, snorkel and fishing rod to make the most of Tranquillity Bay’s waters yourself.

Visit at low tide to experience Pebbly Beach’s coastal walks. Head due south towards Depot Beach for incredible coastline views, or if you’ve got the stamina, head inland along the Clear Point Walking Track to the top of Durras Mountain.

Nestled within the forest behind the beach, the Pebbly Beach picnic area is equipped with barbecues and picnic tables for you to dine at. Why not make a weekend of your visit and pitch up at Pebbly Beach Campground which directly overlooks the shoreline?

Wonderfully protected, Murramarang National Park has ancient sites, clifftop walks, alluring beaches and lush forests in abundance. One of the largest and most significant Aboriginal sites on the NSW coast, Murramarang Aboriginal Area at Bawley Point has a signposted walk to guide you through the history of this 12,000-year-old site.

Families will enjoy pedalling through gum tree forests along the South Durras cycle course. This loop ride along a gravel track is easy for all fitness levels. Other beaches in the park include the attractive Depot Beach and North and South Durras Beaches.
