Looking at their outrageously colourful culinary creations, it’s not hard to see why Speedos has such a deliciously cool reputation.

What’s the vibe at Speedos Cafe?

Speedos have been serving Sydneysiders beachside tucker for almost 100 years. That’s not to say it’s stuck in the past, in fact, this cool café couldn’t be more 21^st century. Popular with locals and tourists alike, the lively joint is a light, bright airy space with windows that open right out to the beach.

What can I eat and drink at Speedos Cafe?

Open for breakfast, brunch and lunch, Speedos does a perfect balancing act between wholesome, nourishing dishes and indulgently naughty ones. You can pig out on a gooey bacon and egg bagel, fully loaded burger or sweet-studded cookies, but also keep it fresh with an avo and spinach-packed protein bowl or seared salmon salad.

Almost every dish at Speedos is a technicolour masterpiece. Acai bowls overflow with ripe strawberry, orange, kiwi and passionfruit, towers of pancakes are crowned with purple pansies, while cakes are topped with sprinkles in all colours of the rainbow.

Even lattes and drinks come with Gen-Z-friendly messages topping the crema, from ‘I’d swipe right’ to ‘kiss me.’

What else can I see and do around Bondi?

The obvious! It’s Bondi, baby, so let’s hit the surf. Once you’ve had your fill of the beach (and are suitably refuelled from a hearty Speedos lunch), consider the Bondi to Coogee walk. This urban coastal walk is a 6km stretch alongside parks, overlooking beaches and with pretty clifftop views. Alternatively, take a dip in Bondi Icebergs, the legendary outdoor pool – and the most photographed in the world.

If you’re visiting Bondi at the weekend, don’t miss Saturday’s Bondi Farmers Market and Sunday’s Bondi Market, both held at Bondi Beach Public School. At the former, you can pick up local, organic produce, fresh flowers and local bakes. At the latter, independent labels and designers sell their exclusive fashion, jewellery and homeware.
