From its gorgeous tulip gardens to Aladdin’s Cave-style antique stores, Bowral is famed for many things, but one place firmly putting its name on the map is Sweet Retreat Gelato Bar. Serving up all manner of creamy treats in classic and experimental flavours, this ice cream emporium is a dreamy destination in its own right.

What’s the Sweet Retreat Gelato Bar story?

Sweet Retreat Gelato Bar was founded by local Declan Veness when he was only 19. His passion for creating imaginative yet delicious gelato has helped his enterprise grow from a small set-up to its cool new location in the historic Mill Courtyard alongside other esteemed local eateries.

Inside, you can expect to find an ever-changing line-up of seasonal and popular flavours. Think; peach kombucha sorbet, peanut butter fudge, cinnamon donut and boysenberry cheesecake. Traditionalists will love mint choc chip, strawberry cream and rum & raisin.

Vegan? No problem, Sweet Retreat has plenty of dairy-free delights. Pooch in tow? They even serve doggie ice cream too! And if you thought only the Scottish were responsible for deep fried Mar bars, think again. Sweet Retreat serve theirs with a side order of Biscoff gelato.

In the colder months, Sweet Retreat Gelato Bar is all about the hot chocolate, infusing it with Turkish delight, Irish cream and hazelnut.
