Take a Dip in Paddy’s River Falls, Tumbarumba

One of NSW’s little-known secrets, Paddy’s River Falls is a gorgeous cascading waterfall on the Paddy’s River close to Tumbarumba. Resembling a beautiful Lord of the Rings location, the scenic waterfall gracefully tumbles into an inviting swimming hole that’s perfect for a refreshing plunge.

Only 271km and a little over three hours’ drive from Canberra, you can get to Paddy’s River Falls in one full EV charge. Pack your camera, your bathers and a towel and head on out to this delightful natural wonder.

How do I get to Paddy’s River Falls?

In a remote countryside location, Paddy’s River Falls can be found 18km from the small town of Tumbarumba. Once in Tumbarumba, take the Tooma Road into the Snowy Valley until you can turn off onto Paddy’s River Falls Road. Follow this snaking road all the way to the end until you reach a car park.

On arrival at Paddy’s River Falls there are several pathways that take you to the falls. On your way there, pause at the lookout points to take some great pictures of the waterfall and downstream river.

What can I do at Paddy’s River Falls?

A stepped pathway leads directly from the top of the waterfall to the pools below. Gushing from a height of about 18m, the falls spill out over a rocky outcrop. So far do the falls cascade outwards that you can even get behind them via a worn path to enjoy a unique perspective directly below and behind the water.

The waterfall pours into a couple of pools that are just right for enjoying a cooling dip while surrounded by the crashing torrent. There’s a shaded picnic table and benches and BBQ area close by, so consider packing sandwiches for lunch.
