Experience Fine Cool Climate Wines at Centennial Vineyards, Bowral

A scenic 2-hour drive from Canberra, Centennial Vineyards sits just south of the stunning Nattai National Park near the town of Bowral. NSW’s Southern Highlands create the perfect conditions for cool climate wine and Centennial Vineyards’ marvellous estate makes an idyllic day out.

Growing eight varieties of grape across eighty acres, the five-star Centennial Vineyards does premium winemaking on a grand scale. But despite its size, its elegant winery retains a boutique feel. Come for its award-winning wines and stay for the beautiful restaurant, indulgent high tea, and magnificent surroundings.

Take a cellar door tour

Open seven days a week, Centennial Vineyards’ welcoming cellar door invites visitors to sample its award-winning wines. Sip the sparkling Brut Traditionelle, savour the Estate Riesling and enjoy the rich mouthfeel of the Reserve Shiraz.

For a more immersive wine experience, groups of six-plus can book a group wine tasting session. Not only will you sample a selection of Centennial Vineyards’ greatest hits, but you’ll learn more about wine from the Southern Highlands & Orange regions.

The region’s cool climate allows for a much slower ripening process for the winery’s Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Gruner Veltliner, Albarino, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Tempranillo grapes. This creates a more dramatic flavour-intensity which lends itself to wines of sophistication and complexity.

Enjoy lunch or high tea

Superlative wines aren’t the only thing on the menu at Centennial Vineyards. With an indoor-outdoor restaurant that commands rolling vineyard vistas, it’s a serious gastronomic destination too. With lofty six-metre-high ceilings and characterful antique furniture, the restaurant is inviting throughout all seasons.

Dine on a lunch prepared with seasonal produce freshly plucked from the Southern Highlands region, all accompanied by a perfectly paired house wine. For a delightfully refined experience, why not take high tea? Neatly crimped finger sandwiches perch prettily alongside homemade scones, sweet pastries and fine tea or coffee.

The location for the much-loved A Day on the Green concerts, Centennial Vineyards’ green slopes create a beautiful backdrop for events.
