Restaurant, bar, bowling alley and gig venue all rolled into one, The Alby is Woden’s newest dining and entertainment destination. Occupying two floors of the freshly revitalised Albemarle Building, The Alby aligns laid-back local vibes with smart gastropub dining.

Designed by Capezio Copeland and conceived by the smart Doma Hotels group, The Alby comes with seriously cool credentials. From its sleek eatery to the sports bar Basement, discover The Alby’s multiple personalities and why this happening place has something for everyone.

Drinking and dining at The Alby

Hip without being pretentiously cool, The Alby is a multidimensional venue that welcomes all. And it’s a real locals’ local. The smart Ground Floor bar and restaurant is the centre of the action. All-day dining is one of its most alluring draws. Think; leisurely weekend breakfasts of acai bowls and eggs benedict, all washed down with a cheeky bloody Mary.

Casual, easy-breezy lunches with friends and family are what The Alby is about. Expect well-executed crowd-pleasers like pizzas, cheeseburgers, and salads. There’s even a kid’s menu for little guests. For larger, special occasions book the Chef’s Table. Directly overlooking the kitchen, you’ll have a front row seat of the cooking theatre.

Pitch up for the afternoon at The Alby’s sunny Beer Garden where you can unwind with one of its 12 artisanal beers on tap, or a sublime house cocktail like the gin-infused Alby Bramble. There’s an excellent wine list, too, featuring homegrown and international wines.

Entertainment at The Alby

Down in the Basement is where all The Alby’s fun takes place. Kitted out like a traditional pub, the space is replete with 85” HD TVs that showcase all the major footy matches across the season. Why not shoot a few rounds of pool before hitting up the addictive pinball machines!

A must-do when visiting The Alby is flexing your bowling skills at one of the Basement’s four duckpin bowling lanes – Australia’s first, no less. A smaller version of traditional bowling, duckpin has shorter pins, and you get three rolls instead of two. See who can get the first strike with your mates.

To accompany your gaming session, the Basement serves classic Tex-Mex bar snacks like nachos and tacos. Wash them all down with a margarita or two.

Very much channelling a rock n’ bowl vibe, The Alby hosts live music each Friday and Saturday night. After dark, The Alby’s tempo picks up, transforming the space from a laid-back dining spot to a funky pre-party destination.
