Like a giant Etsy come to life, Trove Canberra is an incredible emporium of handmade crafts and gifts. Yet it’s far more than a retail space. Trove is a living gallery of local artistry, uniting a diverse array of artists, designers and makers from Canberra and the surrounding regions.

What’s the Trove Canberra story?

Trove Canberra is all about the power of a creative community. Trove is a non-profit cooperative formed almost a decade ago of nearly two dozen makers and designers. Its goal was to nurture local talent by providing Canberra makers and designers with an affordable venue to sell their high-quality wares to customers.

What started as the now-demolished Lonsdale Street Traders in Braddon is now a bright and cheery store in the hip Dickson neighbourhood. Trove has fostered a vibrant community of artisanal talent by providing this store for artists to showcase and sell their work.

What can I buy at Trove Canberra?

As you step into Trove, you’re greeted by an eclectic display of handcrafted treasures. From intricate jewellery and textiles to ceramics, paintings and beyond, you’ll find something unique and exciting to adorn your home – or yourself.

Shop richly glazed ceramic homeware by Ben Kendon, laser-cut wooden ornaments by Elijah Zahra, bright knitted beanies and gloves by SooYun or funky geometric jewellery by Aryka and Amy Creative.

Trove Canberra places a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and sustainability. Many of the items available are crafted from ethically sourced materials, highlighting a careful commitment to environmental responsibility.

Where else can I shop local makers in Canberra?

Held quarterly at Exhibition Park in Canberra, Handmade Canberra is an epic market that showcases over 250 stalls of Australian-made homewares, gifts, fashion, accessories and food. To make a day of it, there’s gourmet food packed with street food vans dispensing coffee, cake and much more, so bookend your shopping with a tasty lunch.

Like a slightly more upscale Trove Canberra, Craft + Design Canberra is another not-for-profit membership. Its gallery and shop in the city centre feature homeware, prints and furniture created by local artisans.

Over in Griffith, M16 Artspace is a hip gallery that also houses a shop featuring works by local artists. From contemporary paintings to fine jewellery, M16 Artspace lets you purchase art directly from the creators, ensuring your purchase is truly unique.
