ActewAGL has joined developer Doma and construction firm BLOC to install thirty-five 7kW Ocular chargers at The Parks residential development in Red Hill, Canberra.

An elegant range of 136 dwellings at The Parks will benefit from one of the largest EV charger installations for a Canberra development.

With one in five new cars registered in the ACT now an EV, ActewAGL is future-proofing the capital region’s charging infrastructure, embodied by this large-scale installation and exciting partnership.

According to Rachael Turner, General Manager ActewAGL Retail “ActewAGL is developing solutions to ensure residents who desire an apartment lifestyle can conveniently own an electric vehicle. Working with progressive organisations such as Doma Group and BLOC is one way to meet the needs of EV drivers as we transition towards cleaner transport and our goal of net zero emissions”.

ActewAGL’s public, residential and commercial EV charging solutions are designed to support a seamless transition to electric vehicles. As the ACT progresses toward a cleaner, more sustainable future, ActewAGL makes it easy for residents and businesses to find, finance and charge electric vehicles via the award-winning evHub by ActewAGL.

EV charging made effortless for The Parks residents.

Each of The Parks’ thirty-three 7kW Ocular chargers has been installed into residents’ private basement car parks. Two additional chargers will also be dedicated to guest car park spaces so residents’ guests can charge their EVs when visiting.

“The Parks EV network was very much cutting edge where we had overcome issues such as load management and registering chargers, which is very complex within a multi-residential environment. Doma is well placed to offer an even larger residential charger network at the Brickworks, which is due to be released next year,” said David Jameson from Doma

The top-of-the-line chargers pair with intuitive Exploren software. Users can pay quickly and easily using the Exploren app, which offers access to their live charging session. Alternatively, they can tap a provided RFID tag to pay for their EV charging on the spot.

The 7kW Ocular chargers will add up to 50km of range to the EV battery in one hour of charge.

“BLOC is proud to be part of this iconic development and looks forward to building a sustainable future in Canberra.”

ActewAGL has set ambitious goals to embrace and encourage more sustainable energy solutions in the local community. ActewAGL’s community goals align with the ACT Government’s legislated target to achieve net zero emissions by 2045 and include a commitment to help the community achieve 1 in 4 households driving an EV powered by electricity from sustainable sources by 2030.

In parallel, ActewAGL is looking to build confidence that EV charging is accessible when required, whether through the public charging network, at businesses, at home in private dwellings or apartment complexes such as The Parks at Red Hill.
