The lynchpin of the Southern Highlands’ art scene, the Milk Factory Gallery and Exhibition Space is home to the region’s best examples of contemporary works. Showcasing local and national artists’ artwork, there’s an ever-changing line-up of exhibitions where you can peruse and buy paintings, ceramics, drawings and sculptures.

What is the Milk Factory Gallery’s story?

As its name suggests, the Milk Factory Gallery was once a former dairy depot for local farmers. Today, the 90-year-old building has been smartly transformed into a spacious gallery, retaining its heritage charm.

Its lofty, vaulted ceilings and airy and bright ambience create the perfect setting to present impressive works of art. With a large main exhibition hall, two smaller pop-up galleries and a mezzanine Annex Gallery, the Milk Factory has multiple spaces to discover incredible art in.

What kind of art can I see at the Milk Factory Gallery?

Exhibitions change monthly and you can expect to see anything from hand-crafted sculpture and native wildlife paintings to live painting sessions by local artists.

Whether you’re into traditional landscapes or experimental mixed-media pieces, the Milk Factory Gallery exhibits a diverse array of art so there is always something for everyone on display. The majority of the artworks are for sale too, so if you fall in love with a piece, it can be yours.

If you’re on a budget, pick up cards, prints, calendars and ornamental crafts at the gift shop.

How else can I get acquainted with Bowral’s art scene?
