Who doesn’t love ramen? Rich, fragrant broth swimming with tender noodles and fresh veggies. This classic Japanese dish has taken the world – and Australia – by storm and nowhere does it better in NSW than RaRa.

With outlets in Randwick, Redfern, Everleigh and Newtown, getting your tasty ramen fix has never been easier.

What is the RaRa story?

BIG NOODLE ENERGY shouts the neon sign at the RaRa Randwick store and this mantra underpins the essence of their philosophy. For founders Scott Gault and his wife Katie Shortland, RaRa was their love letter to the art of ramen making.

After opening their first branch in Sydney’s Redfern three years ago, their devotion to crafting delicious ramen through a slow and steady process quickly won devotees. From their 17-hour broth (the foundation of any bowl) to making every element from scratch, the Brisbane couple’s labour-of-love approach is what results in such heavenly steaming ramen.

After quickly scaling up to meet crazy demand, today, each of RaRa’s four NSW outposts serve their signature RaRa Tonkotsu each with their own fun, individual personality.

RaRa isn’t shy about showcasing its commitment to authenticity; the Randwick eatery has a window into its noodle-making room where you can witness the action take place.

What can I eat and drink at RaRa?

Let’s start with RaRa’s hero dish; the RaRa Tonkotsu. Comprising that unctuous, painstakingly prepared pork broth and shio tare base, a steaming bowl comes topped with free range pork chasu, bamboo, egg, shallots and shredded black fungus. For extra kick, why not turbocharge it with black garlic and chili?

There are variations of broths like the spicy, sesame-based Tantamen or the Paitan, a chicken alternative. Complement your RaRa meal with house-made Japanese pickles and tempting pork gyoza dumplings.

Love ramen but are a vegan or veggie? Never fear, RaRa’s Lonely Mouth in Newtown joint serves up 100% plant-based ramen, tempura and cauliflower karaage.

To wash it all down, on tap at every RaRa you’ll find important Japanese spirits and sake alongside craft brew collaborations with local breweries.
